Outstanding and Oh So Different!
What an Incredibly beautiful and interesting movie! What a change from the usual sci fi or action, or murder movies! I found All the actors to have brought such heartfelt qualities to their roles, especially the lead male ,the Guru, and melissa leo...The Guru was portrayed with Great Realism and actually show a Small glimpse of the awesome and mind shattering power a true Master would possess..A beautiful story with a magical, otherworldly vib throughout and a beautiful ending!
If you have a different taste from your age-group, it's a must watch for u
As the title suggests, you have to keep a different perspective from other people of what so ever age group you belong in order to enjoy it to the full extend as it will allow you to get to your higher level of imagination of what could possibly achieveable in your life. The movie has covered many greater aspects of our like love, passion, spirituality, magic, other realms of life, indian mystics, understanding of the self. The movie also contains hidden anwers to many of our unanswered questions. WORTH WATCHING
Worth more than 5 *
Even though naive and predictable at some points, still paints an unique twist on a star crossed lovers, and contributes to the spiritualistic movement.
Romance & Magic
If you believe in Spiritualism and higher things this film will be right up your street. Good acting and a nice little story with some breathtaking CGI scenery. I would describe it more of a Fantasy Romance than Scifi. Its a small scale production with a big heart and deserves a view if you want more than action , CGI and thrills but want to ponder on the transcendence of the human condition and the marvels of the cosmos and the natural world. Alternatively , if you are female you will appreciate the romance story and I did too but then again I am a bit of a big girls blouse when it comes to lost love and kindred spirits - A fine little movie that will move your heart and soul just a little which isnt bad in this day and age of crash , bang , wallop movies.
New Age stuff + The Osho movement = The Ashram
An attempt to make an exceptional film falls flat on its face. This isn't about spirituality but 'New Age' mumbo jumbo. And yes there's a lot of that going around the world and especially India. The good stuff: 1. The movie starts well and begins to get lame and predictable as you go on. 2. The location was fabulous. There are ashrams in such places in India so that was believable but the mountain where the guruji stayed was terrible. The problems: 1. The script was poorly written. The plot was strange and unexpected in a bad way. There was little characterization. 2.The acting: was quite average. Sam Keeley does a dumbed-down Keanu Reeves. Hera Hilmar was average and you just can't understand her existential crisis. At times it feels shes the one with the brain tumor. The guruji acted the part though strangely he doesn't appear in the cast list on IMDB- A miracle? go figure. 3. CGI effects could have been much better. In summary a potential A-lister becomes a movie you can watch on a weekend when you have nothing else to do.
