  In Los Angeles, happily married anthropologist Laura Harris (as Ally) receives bad news. Due to kidney disease, she has approximately two months to live. Adoring police detective husband Ivan Sergei (as Ryan Graves) is devastated. The only solution would be a kidney transplant, but it would take two years. Desperate, Mr. Sergei contacts shady Jonathan LaPaglia (as James Dolan) about speeding up the process. Facing the prospect of death, Ms. Harris agrees to a black market transplant... Before surgery, Harris catches a glimpse of the frightened young woman donating her kidney... An operating room mishap, involving the criminals responsible for saving her life, leads Harris to question her decision. Meanwhile, husband Sergei is assigned to investigate the case of a dead organ donor. "Final Sale" presents an interesting subject, but there are story problems. Direction by Andrew C. Erin is strongest with the leading couple visiting the hospital, with doctor Reynaldo Rosales (as Hayworth) and orderly Alex Nesic (as Anthony) arousing suspicion and acting sneaky. ***** Final Sale (1/24/11) Andrew C. • Well acted but a rubbish & dangerous plot

  The actors in this movie do a fine job, however you think the writer (Andrew C. Erin) would have done at least a few minutes research into the reality of Kidney Failure and Transplantation. The truth is that with complete kidney failure the lead character could have a near normal life on Dialysis. She would not have had to make the decision required in this plot. The transplant was also completely farcical. No Kidney recipient would be home and driving about being an investigator a couple of days after this surgery. The recipient of the kidney would be worked up on a drug regime to stop rejection. It is a pity. This could have been a good movie rather than the rubbish it is.

  ***SPOILERS*** The shocking story of the illegal human organ transplant trade here in the US and in how desperate people would go so far as involving themselves in it. Which is in them going as far as murder in order to get an organ transplant for a dying loved one! In the movie L.A Detective Ryan Graves (Ivan Sergie), who has the worst case of 5 O'Clock shadow this side of Richard Nixon, gets in touch with hospital orderly Anthony, Alex Nesic, when all hopes fail to get his ailing wife Aly, Laura Harris, a desperately needed kidney transplant! Aly who's been told by her doctor that she has only two months to live without getting a new kidney which don't look good for her in Aly being on an organ transplant waiting list that's four to six years long! Ryan ready to pay any price and do anything gets in touch with Aly's doctor Dr. Hayworth, Reynaldo Rosales, in order to get her a new kidney legal or illegal! Dr. Hayworth directed Ryan to Anthony, an orderly in the hospital, who's connected with a major illegal human organ transplant ring operated by the notorious Mallano Crime Family! With Mallano Capo Domanic Pino,Jonathan LaPaglia, using the phony name of Dolan setting things up for her Aly ends up in this sleazy hotel room in downtown L.A to get her new kidney complement of the disbarred and drunk former Doctor Bowman, Robert Carradine. The operation turned out to be a complete success for Aly but a total disaster for the young woman who donated her kidney to her illegal Mexican immigrant Rosa Garcia, Aidee Saigado, who dies on the operating table! With Ryan put on the case of Rosa Garcia's murder he knows that he in fact unknowingly made it all possible by getting in touch with the mob, in its illegal organ transplant operations, in order to save his dying wife Aly's life! **SPOILERS** It's in fact Aly who knew nothing about what Ryan did for her who helped bust the Mallano organ transplant operation ring wide open by putting her life on the line to do it. Tracking down the Mob's safe house, a Catholic Church no less, where it kept illegal Mexican immigrants and the hotel where disbarred doctors, like Bowman, preformed the operations on them is what brought the "heat",LAPD & SWAT team, or wrath of God down on them with a holy vengeance! But by then it was too late for Rosa Garcia who died in order to give Aly Grave a second chance in life which Aly now feels was far from worth it!

• contemporary sad subject but very much real

  I was so nice to observe the lovely and talented Laura Harris in so different a role from where I watched her quite superb captivation of a demanding of acting ability in ' Dead Like Me'. This movie was not a great vehicle for her talent but she did an amazing job of it. Personally, I would like to see her get a role in one of those period/costume dramas that the British do so well. Not a naughty demanding nudity type role but more like a semi-serious quirky seductive role with humour. I see her doing something not quite Dickensian but similar. Can't put my finger on what I have in mind as yet. Nice job Laura......better things to come I hope and expect !
