Judy Landers Made This Movie Great
This picture was released in 1989 starring Audrey Landers as Angela Reid, Her sister Judy Landers as Billie Blaine and John Matuszak as Chuck Aaron. Angela Reid is a writer who's having work done in her apartment building. Angela is having problems concentrating between all the pounding and dust that's floating around her apartment. So she goes to a Malibu beach house for peace and quit so she can get her story done. However, Angela start to her things and then she actually starts to see things. The ghost of Billie Blaine comes out of no where and no one can see her except for Angela. Enters Chuck Aaron who was hired to keep and eye on the place and he also is a big Billie Blaine fan. Billie wants Angela to help her prove that she didn't ****** ****** 30 years ago. Now a few thoughts on this movie! I loved this movie because it starred Judy Landers. I think Judy is one of the most beautiful actresses back in her time. She was excellent in playing the role of Billie Blaine. Based on Judy Landers alone I give this movie 10 weasel stars.
Oh brother, the Landers sisters....
I freely admit I saw "Ghost Writer". I also admit there was absolutely nothing else to do the day I saw it. But nothing can make me admit that it improved on the spectacle of watching paint dry. In fact, if given a choice between the two, satin latex would win out. The Landers sisters (Audrey and Judy) have talent; they sing, they're sexy, they created "The Huggabug Club" (Did I spell that right? No matter). But you gotta wonder about a movie that features the charms of both these ladies and the actor you remember best from it is Joey Travolta. Maybe Scientology can explain it.... The story, like it mattered, deals with a reporter (Audrey L.) who is the only one who can see the ghost of a murdered actress (Judy L.) and is the only one who can help prove she was bumped off by her shady ex-boyfriend (Franciosa). Like I said, the story doesn't matter; it's only a showcase for the Landers sisters. But is it a good one? Have you seen "Stewardess School"? If so, be warned: it ain't that good. Half a star. I'd give it no stars but, bless their hearts, the girls try.
Cheesy and dated
GHOST WRITER is one of those cheesy and lame 1980s comedies in which one of the main characters is a friendly ghost. The story is about a woman who buys a beach house only to find that it's haunted by the ghost of a deceased Hollywood starlet who was found drowned in the 1960s. In plot twists that will surprise nobody, it turns out that the starlet was murdered and the ghost now seeks vengeance. The film features Audrey and Judy Landers as the lead roles, the latter quite effective as a bubble-headed celebrity, reminding me of the actress in the LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS remake. However, the rest of the film has too many lame characters, forced attempts at unfunny humour, and Anthony Franciosa slumming it as the villain of the piece.
A cute movie
What a fun and cute movie. Totally loved it. Very entertaining, engaging, and funny. A must see. They don't make em like this anymore.
UnStress Yourself with a Dose of Silliness
Pure silliness is often under-rated but shouldn't be. All the high-tech, high concept, serious, sharply-witty movies have their place, but so do the simply silly flicks and this is one of them. Watch it. It's therapeutic and stop taking yourself so seriously. The doctor has spoken.
