• Why do these movies have to be too unrealistic?

  I liked the movie overall. There was a lot of excitement in it, even if the twisters weren't very realistic looking. What I hate about these types of movies, though, are the inconsistencies. These storms freeze everything in their paths - well, that is, anything not a star of the show. Take the poor farmer whose tractor froze up. Oh, and so did he. Yet, they are able to drive a truck right through the middle of multiple vortices and not only survive, but remain unfrozen. Hmm. Well, I like to see a little bit of the impossible in movies, sure. But, if one twister is going to freeze a tractor and a farmer and 3 twisters do nothing but blow around a truck a little bit, that's a bit on the absurd side. I will probably watch the movie again some day if it comes on again because I love tornadoes. Even Twister suffered from what I talked about above. Well, anyway. An interesting find. Jighm

• When Twister meets The Day After Tomorrow

  A cheesy B-movie combo of TWISTER and THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, which sees Oregon plagued by an outbreak of government-created tornadoes which additionally have the power to freeze anything in their path (apart from the protagonists, of course). The resulting film is as silly as they come, made on a low budget so there's plenty of talk and not so much disaster. When the weather outbreaks do hit, we're treated to flying CGI cars and hilarious shots of people/buildings turning to ice as the tornado passes over them. I don't mind a bit of cheese like this, but the rest of the film is so poor as to make actually watching it just not worthwhile. The acting is extremely wooden, and the characters anything but true to life. Nobody seems to show any emotion and you wonder whether those involved are all Stepford creations. The thrills are nonsensical and short-lived, and the supposed technological explanations ridiculous. Sadly, this is exactly what I was expecting from a 'Syfy Channel' television movie, and I got it.

• I think my screen just froze over!

  There are lots of disaster movies out there, most of them have good intentions, but fail to deliver the entertainment. "Ice Twisters" is one of those movies. The CGI effects are bad, yes. Especially the twisters themselves. But if you can get past the bad effects, the movie is not that entirely bad. There are lots of worse disaster movies out there, "Quantum Apocalypse" and "Megafault", to name but a few. When you sit down to watch these types of movies you want to see some destruction and mayhem, and there was very little of that shown in this movie. The cast was adequate and the acting was adequate. The worst thing in the movie was the fact that these freezing storms and twisters would freeze buildings, soil, a tractor, people, an airplane and even a train, but for some unexplained reason the car with the "heroes" in it could drive undamaged through one of these ice twisters! Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Or like when people were commenting on the air being freezingly cold, but their breathing didn't show the 'steam' venting. The concept of the movie is basically alright, but the lack of proper CGI effects to make you go "wow" is what brings this movie to a below average experience. You might consider this movie like an appetizer for a CGI-overload fest like "2012".

  Ice twisters was fun to watch. I wouldn't buy it, but looked forward to seeing the end after dinner. It involves using technology to alter the weather with some unforeseen consequences. It surpasses a native American "rain dance" at first, however soon becomes something more than rain on demand. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon if your not a football fan in the fall/winter. The central characters are an award winning scientist turned fiction writer, because of governmental ulterior motives and his book writing assistant who suddenly encounters serious dangers in a small American town for a book signing and television interview. On the other side are the mobile scientists testing this new weather creating technology nearby where tornadoes have never been seen before. Tornadoes capable of freezing entire landscapes in 72 degree weather. The fight begins as the characters join forces in this rural area, and because of casualties the "evil" government gentlemen attempts to continue regardless, but when destroying the ice twisters is no longer an option, communications with them are inevitably very difficult to say the least. But will destroying them solve what has been put in motion closing in on populated areas?

• SO bad i registered at IMDb to WARN people!

  I watched this apparently EXTREMELY low-budget movie based on one review i read on IMDb; i should have read more. It starts off a little abruptly but hey, some great movies do. but in its course it becomes a VERY bad mix of "The Day After Tomorrow" and the classic "Twister". Put those two movies together with really bad graphics and a beyond-amateurish cast and you've got Ice Twisters. whats more, they even chose the name "Jo" for the female lead (same as Helen Hunt in Twister). At times i couldn't believe how expressionless most of the actors were, especially when they were staring at a totally fake-looking ice-tornado coming their way. And in this one sequence with the fighter jets - the fireball that ensues? jeez, i could render the fire better. to sum it up, i registered with IMDb for the sole reason that is to warn people about this crap-fest of a movie. save your money and 1.5 hrs.. buy your girl some nice flowers instead.
