Making a Killing: Guns, Greed, and the NRA (2016) Reviews

  • Eye-opener

So I see the NRA and gun nuts have made sure to write a lot of negative comments. This movie is a must see, and provides substantiated facts.

  • Unfounded Attack on the NRA

Spoiler Alert! Director Robert Greenwald's cunning propaganda piece is so manipulative that even Nazi filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl would admire this work. The NRA never pulled the trigger on any of these victims. This movie was a "typical" hack Gun-Hater fantasy that only spoke of guns, guns, guns! The word "criminal" was barely mentioned, other than in brief appearance of Wayne La Pierre. Not one sentence in this sinister, calculated, deceitful screen play included any reference to the true killers as, a heartless criminal, a barbaric gang-banger, a satanic worthless psychopath, a negligent parent, a confirmed sociopath, a depressed medical patient. With this film, Director Robert Greenwald is determined to fulfill Joseph Goebbels pernicious statement, "if you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." 2,000 years ago, the noted Jewish Philosopher, Philo of Alexandria, thought it foolish to blame arms rather than criminals for crime.

  • If your goal is to brainwash the public to fear and hate guns then this was well done!

    chris_tarn2016-10-06

This "documentary" is in line with Eric Holder's strategy to brain wash the public to fear and hate guns (don't believe me, watch him say it himself on C-Span - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIcSLhGvaTE ) The problem with brainwashing people to be dumb around firearms is that it ultimately leads to more injuries and deaths. Kind of like if we trained the next generation to fear and hate cars. It is however not a joke, this is happening right now in America today and the ignorant and misinformed are all for it. Don't let fools with an agenda brainwash you, because that is what this "documentary" aims to do. It reminds me of Katie Couric's recent documentary where she and her team did some "creative" editing when in discussion with a group. She is also now facing a law suit because she got caught (there was more than one recording device in the studio... ooops).

  • Gun Control Increases Violent Crime, by shifting the Balance of Power to Favor Violent Criminals, while it Disarms Innocent Victims

    largebear-266222016-10-06

Not worth watching unless you like to laugh at pretentious filmmakers who haven't got a clue. The producers and directors of this movie obviously have no background in criminological research and therefore created a movie essentially lacking all practical crime reductive value. Do they know that the 4 U.S. States with the lowest murder rates, (and 8 of the lowest 10) are states with "very easy access to firearms" AND "very easy access to CCW permits" that allow law-abiding people to carry loaded handguns in public? Ignorant, or don't care about the truth? Do they know that there are or have been 20,000+ Gun Control laws of many varieties in the U.S., ranging from caliber restrictions to total bans and confiscations? I'm sure you understand that if even 20 of those laws (1/10 of 1%) had any significant "before and after" or "cause and effect" reduction in the murder rates, this earth-shattering news would be shouted 24/7 from the rooftops and broadcast in every media outlet in America with exultation and gloating. Have any of you seen any such behavior? No? I didn't think so. Isn't it obvious what that means? Another type of info that is entirely missing from the movie is any indication that the 2nd Amendment activists/NRA/FirearmsIndustry never encourage firearms ownership or criminal misuse of firearms by violent criminals. And criminals are already prohibited from buying, using, owning, or even touching a firearm. Yet it is the governments that often refuse to prosecute violations, so any irresponsible behavior is not the firearms owners' fault. Look at "Fast and Furious" the Feds' project to sell guns to drug smugglers. Not one NRA or other 2nd Amendment official dreamed up that idiotic plan. Why would anyone prefer to defend themselves rather than letting the police do it? The first, and most important reason is time. Call the police and their typical response time is 10 minutes....during which the bad guy has plenty of time to rape, beat, torture, maim, or shoot you or your loved ones....while an armed citizen can react defensively within 5 seconds. Why let a criminal attack you and your loved ones for 10 or more minutes, possibly killing you or leaving you maimed for life? The filmmakers also seemed to have no knowledge of the legal principle of "Sovereign Immunity" (http://www.publicsafetyproject.org/fei_immunity.html ) which essentially states that no government entity is legally liable if they fail to protect an individual, absent special relationships, even if the police or government has been put on notice of an emergency. In the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, all 4,400 lawsuits against police and government were thrown out of court without trial. Does that reassure you? If anyone has any serious questions, please feel free to ask, and I will try to get the info for you.

  • Great Documentary

    sdavis54832017-12-04

This is a well-made, factual documentary. One proof of that fact is the way NRA members are rating this down and trying to challenge its facts using non-factual insults. Now more than ever we need movies like this to show us the danger that radical groups like the NRA pose to our way of life. Watch this show and judge for yourself; then spread it to all your friends.
