In Nelakondapalli village, Adilabad district, Mallamma (Annie) is a girl who is a very talented singer. She is taken care of by an elderly man in her village. On one occasion, the elderly man and Mallamma visit the house of the Dorasani (Shwetha Menon) to seek her permission for Mallamma's education. Dorasani hears Mallamma's song there and gets very angry as her own daughter can't sing. She bans Mallamma's song and threatens her with death. When Mallamma accidentally sings again, her house is burnt and the elderly man is killed. Mallamma is saved by the music master (Nasser). When Mallamma comes to know that only Jawaharlal Nehru in New Delhi can save her, she sets out to Delhi on a lonely journey. When she is attacked in Delhi by Dorasani's men, she loses hope and wants to end her life. The story of Rajanna (Nagarjuna ) is then revealed to her by the music master. She is inspired by the heroic deeds of Rajanna and she goes about facing her difficulties. How does she do it?

One of the Best Film in Telugu Film Industry
There is no need to tell story of Rajanna, Nag revealed total story in a press meet before movie release... This film is very emotional and heart touching, screenplay and direction is excellent, music by keeravani is apt for the backdrop of the movie (folk songs and inspirational songs) and re-recording is too good, one will not feel any boring moments even the first half contains nearly 7+ songs and no fights(except interval fight) and no masala or commercial elements, songs and background music is blended very well and many scenes make u cry, Second half is more powerful than first half, Rajanna(Nagarjuna)inspires people with his song 'Vey vey' this song is one of the best song in TFI, the expressions of Nag in this song is mind blowing, this mood continues till end of the film. Performances: Baby Annie will be National award winner no doubt in that, she makes u cry, she makes u happy, she makes u whatever a human will feel.... she is backbone of the film Nagarjuna is a producer and Hero of this film, i can say no producer have guts to make this movie.. Did u see one star hero comes after 60 minutes of movie( he is producer also)? there is lot of scope to increase the hero character in this movie, but nag didn't do that he has given respect to script, that's y nag proved once again he is a trend setter, he acted a film 'gaganam' in 2011 without heroin and without a song. hatsoff to Nagarjuna all the actors done their jobs well especially 'Sneha' 'Sambayya', Nazar' and swethamenon a Must watch film for every Indian... See nag introduction scene and see his face expressions( like a lion is riding on horse with full of energy) Rajanna and Mallamma are show stealer s of the movie must watch it
a good movie but don't know how telugu audience will receive it
first let me not go into details of the storyline of this movie as i am very unaware of the talangana movement so i will talk about the characters and technical departments The foremost thing to talk about in this movie is baby annie. she just done her character in a extraordinary way,,,,nagarjuna lived upto his part and sneha showed emotions pretty well The characters af the 4 friends of nag is very well chosen and very well used too The songs comes and goes very frequently which makes you restless(main backdrop) but the post-interval song really lifts your spirits up The screenplay has some flaws in it and direction is pretty well and in fights you can see rajmoulis trademark(in fact the climax fight resembles that of magadheera)
A great movie to watch out for !
It has been a long time since one has seen this type of a movie.I cannot stop praising the efforts of each and every member of the film.Their work is projected on the screen very clearly.I specially admire Mr.nagarjuna for producing this movie. well, coming to the movie the main element that works-out is the emotional content and excellent performances by each and every cast member.Baby ani is outstanding and makes one cry in at-least a couple of scenes.Nag came out of the box of image and gave a roaring performance. Sneha is apt.Swetha menon does justice to her character. Coming to direction , Mr.vijayayendra prasad's commitment and effort are worth noting.He has done his part perfectly.Music by keeravani is heart touching.Editing is good. Finally i end by appreciating this great piece of work by every member of the film and looking forward to more good movies from Telugu film industry.They need to come out of the box and help spread the greatness of Telugu people
rare one for telugu cinema
This is not a regular commercial film. If anybody goes with commercial expectations, they may not like it. But if one has to watch the film with true and honest story line and narration, they cannot miss Rajanna. Nagarjuna should be lauded for giving importance only to story and not to artificial heroism. This story has ample scope to commercialize with regular beaten track formula methods. But no such cheap tricks were played here. There is no hastiness in introducing hero character. Rajanna enters only when he is required to enter. That honesty is the true shield for the film. There are no artificial comedy scenes, no sexual eroticism and cheap scenes. Rajanna looks like a man who sensitizes people but not like a super human. This honesty has been lacking in Telugu films these days. No commercial Telugu movies can be seen with out comedians including Annamayya and Ramadasu. This is the only movie where you won't feel that the comedians are missing. Initially many scared to know that there are so many songs in the film. But you will not feel like going out when song starts. That way, even the songs brought an exciting experience. The scene where a little girl attacks a thief who runs away with mud, a scene where a kid attacks and kills a dora of gadi as a sign of revolt, a scene where an old woman breaks the head of a Nizam soldier getting instigated by the song of Rajanna are the highlight scenes those pump in excitement in the nerves of audience. No entertainment can match that excitement. It is hard to say how this film works at box office. It is true that audience patronize good films. If they do, Rajanna becomes a trend setter.
Best Telugu movie since Sankarabharanam
Even if you don't understand even one word of Telugu you'll get something out of this movie. The casting was super all the way around. You will love this. I must say this about the casting, everyone respects the work of Nagarjuna, but I've really gained much respect for the supporting actors many of which most people know (and hate them most of the time), lol. It's a tribute to the people in the trenches of Telugu movie making, they are the real hero's of this movie. Only the movie Sankarabharanam comes close to the raw emotions you feel while watching. That's not bad to be compared with one of the greatest movie ever made. This is a must see movie in my opinion.
