Hotel Corridor Weirdness
A haunting violin track plays as the camera pans over a faded green-carpeted hotel corridor. We stop at a door with a crooked 9. A key turns in the lock and we see a little man enter... and his fishbowl. The first few seconds have all the makings of a horror flick/classic murder mystery. The film does have the potential to develop into one of these. But alas, the movie lives up to its category. Incredibly short, and thus incomplete. If you wanted to watch this film because you are a Hartnett fan, you might be rather disappointed. If your motivation is sheer curiosity and an interest in weird imagery you often see in REM sleep, you've hit jackpot. I wonder what direction the director went with this short...
Too much at the end, too little before that
"The Same" is a 10.5-minute (without credits) live action short film from 2001, so this one had its 15th anniversary last year already. It is an early career effort by writer and director Mark Palansky and probably among his more, but not most, known works as of today. The main reason why this one is still known today is either because horror is a more liked short film genre than most other genres or it is the cast inclusion of Jeff Hartnett whose career was probably also more promising at the turn of the new millennium. Anyway, as for this one here he has little to work with. The last 2 minutes are pretty memorable, but they also may be over the top and include one plot twist too many. Besides, it's probably not worth sitting for these 120 seconds anyway with how forgettable the film is before that. There is a bit of a Snow White feel to the film, but as a whole I wasn't really impressed as there is just too little beyond the shock factor eventually, with the exception of an over-the-top score too. Don't watch.
A Misteruious Night Mare,,,,,
It's a night mare.... The image is very special. The big pipe's idea is very funny. The beach's image is very nice. A little man changed to merman who add sense of art. The ending is a night mare... But it's a fresh and poetic. Jason Acufia who the little man produce a queer atmosphere. He succeed about the shocking impression gave to us.And also his play was excellent.....Jacqui Maxwell who the beautiful girl produce mysterious roll. Josh Harnett played a dark roll who connected for "Sin City " and " Black Dahlia" trigger from this roll. . A director has original sense. I think this is a praise. We want to see more his film. I hope the director can shoot more films.
