seriously confusing
This is a very confusing film throughout and I was hoping for enlightenment by the end but it didn't come. A young woman with a heart defect marries a cardiac doctor but soon suspects all is not as it seems. We are told she has had a poor early life so it isn't her money he's after. She becomes increasingly sick and there is a spooky, weirdo Gothic sister who bears no relevance to ...well anything really! Instead of immediately emailing herself something on the computer the heroine waits to upload it to a memory stick? Why? But it is the rude, unhelpful police who "steal the day". I would have put a complaint in against them for telling me to find them evidence and not following leads, I'd have said that's your job. I can't say I'd watch this again.
**1/2
What's the total involvement of the sister-in-law in this film? You mean that the doctor went berserk when his wife killed herself, he changed his name and got a license to practice medicine under it and then there is a real killing spree? Come on. We may do better than this. Wife #2 becomes increasingly suspicious as all sorts of mayhem occurs. The next door neighbor's dog is missing, a fellow teacher who drives her home each day is accused of molestation and when the charges are dropped, he dies suddenly of an aneurysm? Then of course, our neighbor is found dead in the doctor's garage? There is no end to the mayhem and the happiness at the couple's wedding quickly evaporates when the terror begins. Why were the wives being drugged? Was it a matter of finances or just insanity? Too many loose ends go unanswered here.
Lousy movie, but the portrayal of the cops was accurate
This is the most incoherent suspense movie I've ever seen. Veronicammartin's comment, "It is the rude, unhelpful police who 'steal the day'" is spot on. But I'm afraid she's naive when she says, "I would have put a complaint in against them for telling me to find them evidence and not following leads, I'd have said that's your job." Years ago a tow truck smashed my car while it was parked. Witnesses identified the towing company. My insurance company required the tow truck's registration or they'd charge me the deductible, so I went to the towing company offices. When I asked for the information, the owner pulled a gun on me. I went straight to the nearest police station, but they refused to go back to the towing company with me. They insisted that I had to give them the name of the guy who pulled the gun on me or they wouldn't write up a report. When I asked them how they expected me to get the guy's name, they suggested I go back and ask him! Let's hear it for Boston's "finest".
Worst movie
This is truly, truly bad. So many clichés and obvious tropes. The rich and fairly good looking, but devious doctor that obviously wants to control his new wife and makes vague statements about her "medications".The next thing you know he is gas-lighting her and saying she should go to a psychiatrist. She must be bipolar! Then we see her flush her multiple pill bottles down the toilet. The whole thing screams "low budget", right from the obvious beginning with the neighbor-gardener. Then there is the goth sister who looks like a stereotypical mortician. This may appeal to younger viewers.I do love the scenes of the gorgeous home and the sexy glasses of expensive wine, but the booze is another manipulation by the husband. The funniest part is the fact that the actress who plays the wife is very obviously in the latter stage of her second trimester of pregnancy, if not into the third trimester. Can someone mop the floor? I think my water just broke! Horrendous bunch of slop.
Just tell me about the house please!
Disappointing! No drama. But the house was the real star of the show. Pure upper middle class suburbia, the house was like a character in the movie. I kept watching the movie for the house to be honest. Please tell me more about it. Would be really grateful for pictures of the entire house, especially the facade, the interior and garden. Good cast and plausible acting for the most part but weak plot. No suspense. Excellent film and sound quality though so with the great tech and cast it could have been a much stronger movie; it just needed a better script. I'm going to keep a look out for Hayley Duff and Farhad Mann in future. I expect much more from them.
