"Utburd" is the myth about the children abandoned in the woods to die. Adrian is trying to depict this tale of old in his second novel, but he is suffering from total writer's block. He joins childhood friend Kristine and three other companions on a cabin outing to get away from the writing. But when they get to the woods, he tells of the legend. Suddenly the group isn't so sure anymore: is "Utburd" really just an old ghost story?

Utburd (2014) Reviews
Bone-chilling strolls in the Norwegian forest.
«Utburd» Starts out with the typical opening for many a horror-film: A group of friends on their way to a cabin in the woods. In many cases this tends to mean a mediocre film and boring characters. Luckily "Utburd" is NOT that kind of film. The characters are not divided into the standard groups where you can make a list of "Who dies first", they seem like genuine people with the chemistry of friends who have different relationships with one another. Their interactions are made more realistic with ironic humour and sublime arguments that help the audience getting to know them. Many Norwegian films tend to base its humour on very national themes that might not be picked up as easily by an international crowd. "Utburd" avoids this and keeps the dialogue open for everyone. The atmosphere is built up awe-inspiringly in several scenes by exercising "less is more". Leaving much up to the viewer's imagination several scenes had my heart pounding and my belly turning inside out in fear. At times you might feel certain you have figured the film out in one way or another, but you will be sorely wrong each time. This film entertains from frame one and takes chances I admire for a movie in the horror-genre. It will leave you impressed and with a diminished desire for woodland walks in the near future.
Great norwegian horror film.
It will keep you at the edge of your seat for as long it lasts. Creepy and jumpy is it. It is very good for what it is! Sound is on poing. Acting is good! Editing is good! However, different effects were not quite as good. You should really watch this film!
